Explicit deformation of Galois representations (Q912148)

Given a suitable \({\bar\rho}: \Omega\to GL_ n({\mathbb{F}}_ p)\) (\(\Omega\) profinite), Mazur showed that a universal lift \(\xi: \Omega\to GL_ n(R)\) exists that classifies all p-adic representations lifting \({\bar\rho}\). In this paper we develop group-theoretical techniques that enable us often to calculate \(\xi\) and R explicitly. For \({\bar \rho}\) of arithmetic interest we obtain conditions that force \(R\cong {\mathbb{Z}}_ p[[T_ 1,T_ 2,T_ 3]]\) and investigate what is expected more generally.
