The purpose of this paper is to present a pseudospectral collocation method for the numerical solution of nonlinear two-point boundary value problems with separated end conditions, which arise in the study of the stability of atmospheric and oceanic flows. The algorithm developed here uses either the implicit midpoint or trapezoidal rules for preconditioning, and two versions of the defect correction iteration to solve the discretized equations. Programs based on these choices for preconditioning and iteration are described. Examples of the performance of the programs are given.
