Watt's centrifugal regulator, used to stabilize rotation of a shaft, is a mechanical system with one position coordinate (the divergence angle of rods) and one cyclic coordinate (the shaft rotation angle). The state vector of such a system comprises a position coordinate and position and cyclic velocities. The stabilizing action in such systems is usually introduced only on the shaft axis. We modify the design of the rotation regulator, introducing into a system a property of gyroscopic connection, which will provide additional stabilization potential. We show that this will allow stabilization by control defined only in the cyclic coordinate and formed from measurement of the position coordinate and its velocity.
