Let \(\theta\) be the tangent bundle on the projective space \({\mathbb{P}}^ n\) and \(\theta\) (r) the twist of \(\theta\) with the r-th power of the hyperplane bundle. The algebraic grup PGL(n) acts in a natural way linearly on the space of global sections of this locally free sheaf. The authors are interested in the stability properties [in the sense of \textit{D. Mumford}, ``Geometric invariant theory'' (1965; Zbl 0147.393)] of the action of PGL(n) on the space or meromorphic vetor fields of degree r \(MVec(r):={\mathbb{P}}(H^ 0({\mathbb{P}}^ n,\theta (r)))\). \(b\in MVec(r)\) is called non-degenerate, if all zeroes of a corresponding vector field have multiplicity one. Main results: If \(r>0\) and \(b\in MVec(r)\) non-degenerate, then (1) b is completely determined by its zero set; (2) b is a PGL(n)-stable point; (3) the zero set Z of b is PGL(N)-stable. To prove this the authors use Mumford's numerical criterion of stability and the Koszul resolution of \({\mathcal O}_ Z\). To compute some cohomology groups like \(H^ j({\mathbb{P}}^ n,(\Lambda^ i\Omega)\oplus \theta (r))\) a result of \textit{R. Bott} [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 66, 203-248 (1957; Zbl 0094.357)] and elements of representation theory are used.
