The subject of the paper under review are 8-dimensional cohomogeneity-one Riemannian manifolds with special holonomy. The author considers the case of manifolds with principal orbits \(Q^{k,l,m}=SU(2)^3/U(1)^2\), \(M^{k,l,0}=(SU(3) \times SU(2))/(SU(2) \times U(1))\) (integers \(k,l,m\) control the embedding of the corresponding subgroups) and whose holonomy group is contained in Spin(7). He proves that only the cases \(Q^{1,1,1}\) and \(M^{1,1,0}\) are possible. On those spaces canonical Spin(7)-structures are considered. In case \(Q^{1,1,1}\), the author proves that the Riemannian metric corresponding to the considered Spin(7)-structure has SU(4)-holonomy, is complete, and asymptotically conical. The underlying manifold \(Q^{1,1,1}\) has singular orbit diffeomorphic to \(S^2 \times S^2 \times S^2\) or \(S^2 \times S^2\). Moreover, this metric is the only smooth metric on \(Q^{1,1,1}\) with the considered Spin(7)-structure and special holonomy group. Analogically, in case \(M^{1,1,0}\), the author also proves that the corresponding Riemannian metric has SU(4)-holonomy, is complete, and asymptotically conical. The underlying manifold \(M^{1,1,0}\) has a singular orbit diffeomorphic to \(\mathbb CP^2 \times S^2\), \(\mathbb C P^2\) or \(S^2\). Moreover, this metric is the only smooth metric on \(M^{1,1,0}\) with a considered Spin(7)-structure and special holonomy group.
