The authors develop a theory for HL integrable functions, usually called variationally Henstock integrable functions, from a compact real interval \([a,b]\) into an ordered Banach space \(E\) having a normal or a regular order cone. In particular, they prove a dominated convergence theorem and a monotone convergence theorem for HL integrable functions. These convergence theorems, together with a fixed point theorem in [\textit{S.\ Heikkilä} and \textit{V.\ Lakshmikantham}, Monotone iterative techniques for discontinuous nonlinear differential equations. Pure and Applied Mathematics. 181. New York: Marcel Dekker, Inc. (1994; Zbl 0804.34001)], are applied to prove existence and comparison results for functional Fredholm integral equations.
