Let \(K=F(\sqrt{a})\) be a quadratic extension of a field F. The authors consider the ''H-conjecture''): \(N^{-1}(R(F))=F^ x R(K),\) where R(F) and R(K) are Kaplansky's radicals of F and K, respectively and \(N: K\to F\) is the norm map. They prove that the ''H-conjecture'' is valid if K is quasi-pythagorean. This is a generalization of the main result of part II by the last two authors [ibid. 13, 19-37 (1983; Zbl 0514.10012)].
