The author defines so called BGG-algebras (after Bernstein-Gel'fand-Gel'fand) and considers categories of modules over them. This enables him to give new proofs of some known results on various categories of modules over, say, complex semisimple algebras or over semisimple simply connected groups of characteristic \(p>0\), etc. These proofs are shorter and less involved. The author mentions earlier works of Cline-Parshall-Scott and Parshall-Scott where the highest weight categories have been introduced which include BGG-categories considered here.
