We study the spectral theory of the Dirac operator \(D=D_ 0+Q\) in \(L^ 2({\mathbb{R}}^ 3)\) where: \(D_ 0=-i\sum^{3}_{k=1}\alpha_ k\partial_{x_ k}+m\alpha_ 4+\phi (x_ 1)\) with an electric potential \(\phi\) behaving like \(-sgn(x_ 1)| x_ 1| \beta\) at infinity, \(\beta >0\), and Q a short range perturbation. The operator \(D_ 0\) is unitarly equivalent to a direct integral of a family \(\{D_ 0(p)\}\) of first order ordinary differential operators. We use the turning point theory to construct asymptotic (both in the variable and in the parameter) solutions to the equation \((D_ 0(p)-\lambda)u=0\). The Green kernel of \(D_ 0(p)\) and an eigenfunction expansion for \(D_ 0\) are given in term of those solutions. We show that the generalized Fourier transform for \(D_ 0\) operates from weighted \(L^ 2\) spaces (the weight depends on \(x_ 1\) only) into Hölder spaces and use this fact to prove The Limiting Absorption Principle for \(D_ 0\). We then prove the L.A.P for D and the existence and completeness of the wave operators. At last we prove some decay estimates for the scattering states. Similar problems for Schrödinger operators where treated by \textit{M. Ben-Artzi} [J. Math. Phys. 25, No.4, 951-964 (1984; Zbl 0564.35087)] and \textit{I. Herbst} [Math. Z. 155, 55-70 (1977; Zbl 0338.47009)].
