The authors consider the relativistic Euler equations for perfect fluids in two-dimensional Minkowski space-time, which contain the speed of light \(c\) as a parameter. It is shown that, when \(c\to\infty\), the weak solutions of the relativistic equations converge to weak solutions of the non-relativistic Euler equations globally in time. This is a generalization of the corresponding local results obtained earlier by the second author and \textit{T. Makino} [ibid. 35, No. 1, 105-114 (1995; Zbl 0833.35086)]. The proof uses the properties of the finite difference Glimm-type approximation to the solution of the Riemann problem for relativistic equations.
