This book consists of six chapters. Basic models and methods in planning and scheduling are outlined in Chapter I. Chapter II is devoted to job- shop sequencing and scheduling. In Chapter III the integrated model for planning and scheduling is given along with a general procedure for solving the integrated model. Experimental results together with other procedures for solving the model are described in Chapter IV. Chapter V deals with several extensions of the model. Finally, the integrated model for lot streaming in job-shop scheduling is introduced in Chapter VI. This book very rightly raises the issue of consistency between planning and scheduling decisions in production management. Unfortunately, not much attention is given to the consistency issue by researchers. This book sets the right tone as a first step in this direction.
