Let \(\pi\) be an irreducible cuspidal automorphic representation of \(\text{GL}_n\) over a number field \(k\). For \(n=2\) it was proved by Rohrlich that, given a finite set \(S\) of places of \(k\) and a complex number \(s_0\), there are infinitely many characters \(\chi\) of \(\mathbb{A}^*/ k^*\) with finite order and unramified at the places of \(S\) such that \(L(\pi \otimes \chi, s_0) \neq 0\). In the present paper the same is proved for \(n\geq 3\) under the condition that \(\text{Re} (s_0) \not\in [1/n, 1- (1/n)]\) and, if \(\pi\) is tempered, under the condition \(\text{Re} (s_0) \not\in [2/n+ 1,1- (2/ n+1)]\). The method of proof is Rohrlich's, but needs finer estimates.
