This paper discusses global solutions of the Schrödinger equation with ``Cornell'' potential \(V(r)\) (of the form Coulomb plus linear, namely \(V(r)=-a'/r+b+cr)\). The method is based on that given by \textit{F. Naundorf} [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 7, 157-175 (1976; Zbl 0334.34013)]. Series solutions for small \(r\) are connected with the asymptotic solutions for large \(r\) and conditions necessarily satisfied by the connection factors are discussed. The eigenenergies of the Cornell potential are the eigenvalues of a \(4\times 4\) matrix. Although 12 of these elements have to be computed numerically, direct numerical integration of the Schrödinger equation is avoided by the method.
