Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded region in a complete Riemannian manifold with smooth boundary \(\partial \Omega\). The authors are interested in Rellich type inequalities \[ \int_\Omega X \cdot | u|^p\leq c \cdot \int_\Omega Y \cdot |\Delta u|^p \] where \(X\) and \(Y\) are suitable weight functions, \(c\) is a constant, \(1\leq p<\infty\), and \(u:\Omega \to \mathbb{R}\) is an arbitrary smooth function vanishing on \(\partial \Omega\). Special emphasis lies on explicit constants \(c\). A typical example of the results is Theorem 11. Let \(V: \Omega \to \mathbb{R}\) be a positive continuous function all of whose derivatives of order up to 2 lie in \(L_1 (\Omega)\). Let \(\Delta V<0\) and \(\Delta (V^\delta)\leq 0\) for some \(\delta>1\). Then \[ \int_\Omega |\Delta V| | u|^p \leq{p^{2p} \over\bigl \{(p-1) \delta+1 \bigr\}^p} \cdot \int_\Omega {V^p \over| \Delta V |^{p-1}} |\Delta u|^p \] for all smooth functions \(u:\Omega \to\mathbb{R}\) vanishing on \(\partial \Omega\).
