In the paper under review, the spectral problem of the type \[ (L-\lambda M)y = 0,\quad L=L_s+L_1 \] is studied, where \(M\) is a symmetric uniformly positive operator, \(L\) is the perturbation of the self-conjugated positive operator \(L_s\) and the operator \(L_1\) is subjected to \(M\) in the sense of the quadratic forms \( |(L_1y,y)|\leq \text{ const}(My,y)\). The linear bundle of operators under consideration is an abstract model for the well-known Orr-Sommerfeld problem. The operator \( T = M_{F}^{-1}L \) is placed into correspondence to the bundle \( L-\lambda M\), where \(M_F\) is the Friedrichs expansion of the operator \(M\). The operator \(T\) is studied in a scale of Sobolev spaces connected with \(L_s\) and \(M\), rather than in the initial space. It is shown that the definition domain of the operator \(T\) can be taken so that the spectrum \(T\) and that of the bundle under consideration coincides. Under additional assumptions, the Riesz basis of the root vectors of the operator \(T\) is determined.
