The authors prove the existence of a weak solution for a reaction-diffusion-advection system with three equations, which models the spread of an epidemic disease (Feline Leukemia Virus) through a nonhomogeneous habitat. A related scalar system is studied in the first part of the paper, using approximation techniques, some estimates and a limit process. The same strategy is employed then in the proof of the main existence result.
