An alternative determination of transverse shear stiffness for sandwich and laminated plates (Q1573337)

This paper is concerned with the determination of effective transverse shear stiffnesses for laminate and sandwich plates. The method proposed leads to expressions which depend on the solution of a Sturm-Liouville-problem. In special cases the stiffnesses is calculated and compared with results by other authors. It is shown that the presented approach can be useful not only in the case of laminated plates, but also for sandwich plates.
