The authors describe a simple diagrammatic method that allows one to connect the Boltzmann weights of vertex models of statistical mechanics with those of SOS models. The authors investigate an analogy with the computation of 6J-symbols. They calculate the Boltzmann weights. The authors show that thee construction of statistical weights heavily relies on the realization of the group \(\mathrm{SU}(2)\) on the space of functions of one variable. They obtain a closed-form answer for some particular cases. Also, the authors prove that, in the general case, the Boltzmann weights can be written as the scalar product of two polynomials. The generating function for the Clebsch-Gordan coefficients is studied. The authors investigate the orthogonality and completeness conditions for the Clebsch-Gordan coefficients. The lowest weight vectors in the tensor product of three representations are obtained. The normalization factor for the lowest weight vectors is calculated. By realizing the group \(\mathrm{SU}(2)\) on the space of polynomials in one variable, the authors provide a significant simplification of calculations.
