The authors develop a method of superposition of hybrid and displacement approximation to provide the accurate stress field in a multilayered composite laminate, including singular neighborhood of ply interface and hole edge. They use asymptotic analysis to derive the hybrid stress functions. The displacement approximation is based on polynomial B-spline functions. This method makes it possible to determine the coefficient of singular term along with convergent stress components, including singular regions. By using Reisner's variational principle, the authors analyze some special type of laminates. They find that the interaction between singular terms on neighboring interfaces can be important for the convergence of coarse subdivisions.
