The author considers the problem of determining when the total space of a symplectic bundle has a symplectic structure which restricts to the given structures of the fibres. By a result of Thurston, the obstruction is cohomological, so is amenable to study via rational homotopy techniques; in particular, via KS-models for fibrations. The author makes interesting use of a result of Felix and Thomas to analyze the case of \(T^2\)-bundles over \(T^2\) (for which more general results are available in \textit{H. Geiges} [Duke Math. J. 67, No. 3, 539-555 (1992; Zbl 0763.53037)]). From this point of view, the connection between the algebra and geometry of the situation becomes quite transparent. The author also considers the existence of symplectic structures for pure fibrations and gives a nice construction (and verification) of a symplectic structure on a \(T^4\)-bundle over \(T^2\).
