In order to determine precisely the large strain behaviour in cyclic plastic range of some steel and aluminium sheets and to examine the small scale re-yielding after large prestrain, the authors propose a new equation of back stress evolution for an accurate simulation of transient Bauschinger effect. A non-isotropic hardening surface in the stress space allows a correct description of work hardening stagnation under reversed deformation as well as the dependence of stress and strain on cyclic hardening. The resulted model can also predict normal stress-strain curves under large reverse deformation, and smooth elastic-plastic transitions. The model also allows a direct identification of material parameters, being highly flexible in describing several types of stress-strain curves including the yield-plateau phenomenon nearby the initial yielding. Besides, explanatory figures illustrate the variation of stress-strain relations in experiments, and present the results of simulations of isotropic and non-isotropic hardening.
