In this paper, the author generalises the results of Liflyand and his collaborators of the Hausdorff operators on the Hardy space over a finite dimensional real space to the case of locally compact groups of homogeneous type. For that he first fixes a locally compact homogeneous group \(G\) and a \(\sigma\) compact quasi metric space \(\Omega\) with quasi metric \(q\) and a positive Radon measure \(\mu\). He defines a class of automorphisms of \(G\) as \(A:\Omega\rightarrow \text{Aut}G,\) where \(A\) is \(\mu\) measurable. Let \(\Phi\) be a locally integrable function on \(\Omega\). The author studies the boundedness of the operator (called Hausdorff operator) \[\mathcal{H}f(x):=\int_{\Omega}\Phi(u)f(A(u)x) d\mu,\] on the real Hardy space \(H^1(G)\) and \(L^p(G)(1\leq p\leq\infty)\) as well. He gives various examples of automorphisms on \(G\) and a condition on \(\Phi\) for the above operator to be bounded on the Hardy space and \(L^p\) spaces for many groups including compact groups, the Heisenberg group, upper triangular matrices. The author gives an example of a noncompact Hausdorff operator on \(L^2(\mathbb R^n)\) answering a question posed by Liflyand.
