The purpose of this paper is to study the global existence and well-posedness of the three-dimensional Boussinesq system (1) with only vertical viscosity. The main theorem states that the problem (1) is solved by a triple: velocity, pressure and temperature in the sense of distributions with compact support. First, some notation and theorems for the norm are given and symmetric matrices and vectors are decomposed. Then two operators connected with the stress error are introduced, which enables a construction of perturbations of the triple velocity, pressure and temperature. The rest of the paper consists of very similar computations of the oscillation part, the transportation part, and the error part.
