A second kind nonlinear Volterra integral equation with weakly singular kernel of the form \[ u(x)=\int_{-1}^x(x-t)^{-\mu}\phi_1(x,t,u(t))dt+\int_{-1}^x\phi_2(x,t,u(t))dt+f(x), \ \ x\in I, \] is solved, where \(\mu\in(0,1)\) and \(I=[-1,1]\). The numerical method used is based on the classical Jacobi spectral collocation method for solution of second kind nonlinear Volterra integral equations. The authors construct a fractional interpolation basis using the collocation method. It is shown that semi-discrete and fully discrete nonlinear systems have a unique solution for sufficiently large \(n\) (\((n+1)\) is the dimension of the approximate space). The theory is confirmed by numerical examples.
