The finite element method has been used to examine the effect of changing the orientation of the applied magnetic field and the wall conductivity on MHD channel flows. The pipe with a square cross-section has been taken for illustration. Numerical results and graphs are given for different values of the Hartmann number, the wall conductivity and the inclination of the applied magnetic field. It is found that as the wall conductivity increases the velocity flux through the section decreases. So far as the effect of the orientation of applied magnetic field is concerned, it is found that the flux is maximum when the applied magnetic field is parallel to a diagonal.
