The classical averaging principle of the original equations over fast angular variables to study the secular evolution of asteroids is modified for crossing orbits. The classical principles cannot be applied to crossing between the orbits of an asteroid and planets because of singularity that makes the integrals in the right sides of the averaging equations divergent. The model Sun-planets-asteroid is considered in the heliocentric reference frame in Delaunay variables, supposing that there are no mean motion resonances between asteroid and planets, and no close approaches occur between them. The eccentricities and the inclinations of planets are taken into account. The derivatives of the averaged perturbing function are presented and can be used to determine the solution of the averaged equations of motion.
