This is the third paper in a series of five papers studying special Lagrangian \(m\)-folds \(X\) with conic singularities in almost Calabi-Yau \(m\)-folds \(M\). This paper and the forthcoming paper IV construct desingularizations of \(X\), realizing \(X\) as a limit of a family of compact, nonsingular SL \(m\)-folds \(X_t\) in the sense of currents. The aim of this series of papers is to approach the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjecture on the mirror symmetry of Calabi-Yau 3-folds. Namely, it is conjectured that Calabi-Yau spaces can be often fibered by special Lagrangian tori and that their mirrors can be constructed by dualizing these tori.
