In the second volume there are 6 chapters, 7-12. Chapter 7 contains pseudodifferential operators. We find here: Fourier integral representations, symbol classes and Schwartz kernels of PSD, symbol calculus, \(L^2\)-estimates, Gårdings inequality Eforov's theorem, hyperbolic evolution equations, microlocal regularity, parametrices for regular elliptic boundary problems and for the heat equation, as well as the Weyl calculus. Chapter 8 is devoted to spectral theory, particularly of selfadjoint elliptic operators, of which we list here: the spectral theorem, heat asymptotics and eigenvalue asymptotics, the Laplace operator on \(S^n\), on hyperbolic space, and on cones, the harmonic oscillator and the quantum Coulomb problem. Chapter 9, scattering obstacles, contains: the scattering problem and operator, connections with the wave equation, Lax-Phillips semigroups, trace formulas, scattering phase, scattering by rough obstacles, inverse problems. Chapter 10, Dirac operators and their index, contains: Clifford algebras, spinors, Weitzenbock formulas, spin manifolds, the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet formula, the Riemann-Roch theorem, direct attack in two dimensions. In Chapter 10, the Atiyah-Singer Index Theorem and Formula are stated, but left without a complete proof. This is a pity. The author having 1701 pages to his disposition could have added some 50 pages more and arrived at a full proof -- without gaps -- of this beautiful and important theorem. In Chapter 11 we find: Brownian motion, Wiener measure, potential theory, the Feynman-Kac formula, diffusion on domains with boundary, martingales, stopping times, strong Markov property, Poisson integral, Newton capacity, stochastic integrals, and differential equations. Chapter 13, the \(\overline\partial\)-Neumann problem, contains: elliptic complexes, the \(\overline\partial\)-complex, Morrey's inequality, the Levi form and strong pseudoconvexity, the 1/2-estimate, higher order subelliptic estimates, the Hodge decomposition and the \(\overline\partial\)-equation, the \(\overline\partial\)-Neumann problem, reduction to pseudodifferential equations on the boundary. In addition to the 13 chapters described above, there are three major appendices, A, an outline of functional analysis, B, manifolds, vector bundles and Lie groups, both in the first volume, and C, on connections and curvature, in the second volume.
