In the paper under review, the authors prove a log-free zero density estimate for Rankin-Selberg \(L\)-functions, in both the conductor aspect and the \(T\)-aspect. Let \(A(d)\) be the set of cuspidal automorphic representations of \(\mathrm{GL}_d(\mathbb{A}_{\mathbb{Q}})\) with unitary central character, and let \(C(\pi)\) be the analytic conductor of \(\pi\in A(d)\). Let \(N_\pi(\sigma,T)\) be the number of zeros of \(L(s,\pi)\) in the rectangle \(|\mathrm{Im} (s)|\le T\), \(\sigma\le\mathrm{Re}(s)\le 1\). Then, for \(\pi\in A(m_0)\) and \({1/2 \le \sigma \le 1}\), it is shown that \[ \sum_{\substack{\pi\in A(m)\\C(\pi)\le Q}}N_{\pi\times\pi_0}(\sigma,T) \ll_{m,m_0}\left(C(\pi_0)QT\right)^{10^8(m_0m)^4(1-\sigma)}, \] for \(Q,\,T\ge 1\), under the assumption of an averaged form of the Generalized Ramanujan Conjecture. The proof in the present paper is ultimately based on the power sum method, as in \textit{P. X. Gallagher}'s work [Invent. Math. 11, 329--339 (1970; Zbl 0219.10048)] on Dirichlet \(L\)-functions. Finally, the authors give some applications related to mass equidistribution for Hecke-Maaß forms, the rarity of Landau-Siegel zeros of Rankin-Selberg \(L\)-functions, the Chebotarev density theorem, and \(\ell\)-torsion in class groups of number fields.
