The authors solve the initial value problem based on nonlinear constitutive relation between the linearized strain, its time derivation and the Cauchy stress \(S(x,t)\). Originally the problem has the form \[S_{xx}+\nu S_{xxt} = h(S)_{tt},\ S(x,0)=S_0(x),\ S_t(x,0)=S_1(x),\ x\in \mathbb{R}.\] Assuming that the function \(h\) is sufficiently small and strictly increasing they rewrite the problem using the inverse function \(g\) of \(h\) in the form \[\eta_{tt}=g(\eta_x)_x + \nu g(\eta_x)_{xt},\ \eta(x,0)=s_0(x),\ \eta_t(x,0)=\eta_1(x),\ x\in \mathbb{R}.\] Applying a fixed point theorem a local existence and uniqueness of a solution is verified.
