Three-valued algebras related to various ternary-valued logics are discussed in connection with modeling undefined or missing information. This analysis results in a new three-valued algebra, called dragonfly algebra, which is then used to define a sup-product, two inf-residual and one inf-biresidual fuzzy relation equations. The interrelationships of these fuzzy relation equations, which are generalizations of ordinary fuzzy relation equations, are extensively analyzed. Finally, it is shown how these fuzzy relation equations can be used in the classification of a large dragonfly database, an application after which the new algebraic structure is named.
