    The authors investigate the optimal parameters for the Kahane-Salem-Zygmund inequality. This inequality asserts that, for \(p_{1},\dots,p_{d}\geq2\), there exists a \(d\)-linear form \(A:\ell_{p_{1}}^{n}\times\cdots\times\ell_{p_{d}} ^{n}\to\mathbb{K}\) (\(\mathbb{K} = \mathbb{R}\) or \(\mathbb{C}\)) of the form \[ A \left( x^{1},\ldots,x^{d} \right) = \sum_{j_{1},\ldots,j_{d}=1}^{n} \varepsilon_{j_{1} \cdots j_{d}} x_{i_{1}}^{1} \cdots x_{i_{d}}^{d}, \] with \(\varepsilon_{j_{1}\cdots j_{d}}\in\{-1,1\},\) such that \[ \|A\| \leq \begin{cases} C n^{1-\frac{1}{\max\{p_{1},\ldots,p_{d}\}}}, & \text{ if } 1\leq p_{1},\dots,p_{d} \leq2;\\ C n^{\frac{d+1}{2} - \left( \frac{1}{p_{1}}+\cdots+\frac{1}{p_{d}}\right) }, & \text{ if } 2 \leq p_{1},\dots,p_{d} \leq \infty. \end{cases} \] The above estimates are optimal, i.e., the exponents of \(n\) are the smallest possible. Recently \textit{N. G. Albuquerque} and \textit{L. Rezende} [``Asymptotic estimates for unimodular multilinear forms with small norms on sequence spaces'', Bull. Braz. Math. Soc. (to appear)] extended the previous estimates for all possible choices of \(p_{1},\dots,p_{m}\) in \([1,\infty]\): \[ \| A\| \leq Cn^{1-\frac{1}{\min \{ 2,\max \{p_{k} : p_{k}\leq2\} \}}+\sum_{k=1}^{d} \max \left\{ \frac{1}{\min \{2,\max \{p_{k} : p_{k}\leq2\} \} } - \frac{1}{p_{k}} \right\} }. \] In the present paper, the authors prove that the optimal estimates for the general case are \[ \| A\| \leq Cn^{\frac{1}{\min\{\max\{2,p_{k}^{\ast}\}\}}+\sum_{k=1}^{d} \max \left\{ \frac{1}{2} - \frac{1}{p_{k}} \right\} }. \] Using a special type of matrices that dates back to the works of Toeplitz, the authors answered (in the negative) some conjectures proposed by Albuquerque and Rezende for the anisotropic version of the Kahane-Salem-Zygmund inequality.
