The authors study weighted (in general nonlinear) superposition operators between different normed spaces \(X\) and \(Y\) of holomorphic functions on the unit disk. Recall that for \(w\in H(\mathbb D)\) and \(\varphi\in H(\mathbb C)\) this kind of operator \(S_{\varphi,w}: H(\mathbb D)\to H(\mathbb D)\) is defined as \(S_{\varphi,w}(f)(z):= w(z)\; \varphi(f(z))\). A typical result reads as follows: if \(X\) contains the constant functions and if there is \(f\in X\) with \(f(0)\not=0\) whose zero-sequence is not a \(Y\)-zero-sequence, then, given \(\varphi\not\equiv 0\), \(S_{\varphi,w}\) maps \(X\) into \(Y\) if and only if \(w\in Y\) and \(\varphi\) is constant. Another type of result shows that for entire functions \(\varphi\) of order less than one, or of order one and type zero, the weighted superposition operator \(S_{\varphi,w}: \mathcal B\to A^p_\alpha\) is bounded whenever \(w\in A^p_\beta\) for some \(\beta\) with \(-1<\beta<\alpha\). Here \(A^p_\alpha\) is the usual weighted Bergman space for \(0<p<\infty\) and \(\alpha>-1\) and \(\mathcal B\) is the Bloch space.
