A space \(X\) is \(\mathbf{DC}\)-like if the first player has a winning strategy in the infinite two-person game introduced by \textit{R. Telgársky} [Fundam. Math. 88, 193-223 (1975; Zbl 0311.54025)]. The game is defined by using discrete families of compact subsets of \(X\). It is known that \(\sigma\)-scattered spaces, \(\sigma\)-\(C\)-scattered spaces and spaces with a \(\sigma\)-closure-preserving cover by compact sets are \(\mathbf{DC}\)-like. The author shows that the product of a perfect paracompact space and a product of countably many paracompact \(\mathbf{DC}\)-like spaces is paracompact. This generalizes the theorem of \textit{K. Alster} [Fundam. Math. 127, 241-246 (1987; Zbl 0641.54005)] that the product of a perfect paracompact space and a product of countably many paracompact scattered spaces is paracompact.
