The authors study the properties of a completely regular space \(X\). Let \(\beta X\) stand for the Stone-Čech compactification of \(X\) and coz\((f)=X\setminus{f^{-1}(0)}\) for every \(f\in C_B(X)\), i.e., for every continuous and bounded scalar-valued mapping \(f\) on \(X\). For a subset \(H\) of \(C_B(X)\), define \[ {\lambda_H}X=\bigcup_{f\in H}\text{int}_{\beta_X}\text{cl}_{\beta_X}\text{coz}(f). \] Let \(\mathfrak{sp}(H)\) denote the spectrum of a non-vanishing self-adjoint closed subalgebra \(H\) of \(C_B(X)\). The authors show that if \(H\) has the local units, then (i) \(\mathfrak{sp}(H)=\lambda_H(X)\); (ii) \(X\) has some topological property \(\mathcal P\) if and only if \(\mathfrak{sp}(H)\) has the property \(\mathcal P\). In the role of \(\mathcal P\), the authors consider different properties like local connectedness together with pseudocompactness, basic disconnectedness, strong zero-dimensionality, and others.
