    The authors consider the following Cauchy problem \[ v(0)=v_0, \quad v^{\prime}(0)=v_1,\quad \dots,\quad v^{(n-1)}(0)=v_{n-1} \tag{1} \] for the linear inhomogeneous higher-order equation \[ Av^{(n)}=B_{n-1}v^{(n-1)}+\cdots+B_0v+g \tag{2} \] of Sobolev type, where \(g:(-T,T)\rightarrow {\mathcal G}\) is a certain vector function. In this context, \({\mathcal V}\) and \({\mathcal G}\) are Banach spaces and \(A,\;B_{n-1},\dots,B_0\in {\mathcal L}({\mathcal V};{\mathcal G})\) (where \({\mathcal L}({\mathcal V};{\mathcal G})\) is the space of continuous linear operators from \({\mathcal V}\) to \({\mathcal G}\)). \noindent They study the solvability of problem ({1}), ({2}) for the case when the operator \(A\) is not invertible.
