An infinite collection \((X_n)_{n\in\mathbb{Z}}\) of subgroups of a group \(G\) such that \(\cdots<X_{-n}<\cdots<X_{-1}<X_0<X_1<\cdots<X_n<\cdots\) is called a double chain of subgroups. If \(\chi\) is a subgroup theoretical property, a group \(G\) is said to satisfy the double chain condition on \(\chi\)-subgroups, if it has no double chains consisting of \(\chi\)-subgroups; in particular, groups with the double chain condition on all subgroups will be called DC-groups. The authors study special groups satisfying the double chain condition on normal subgroups (\(\text{DC}_n\)-groups) and groups with the double chain condition on non-normal subgroups (\(\text{DC}_{nn}\)-groups). In particular, they obtain that periodic soluble groups with property \(\text{DC}_n\) satisfy the minimal condition on normal subgroups and the residually finite \(\text{DC}_n\)-groups must have the maximal condition on normal subgroups. Also the locally radical \(\text{DC}_{nn}\)-groups satisfy either the minimal or the maximal condition on non-normal subgroups.
