The paper deals with algebraic lattices which can be (up to isomorphism) represented as congruence lattices of finite algebras -- they are said to be finitely representable. Grätzer and Schmidt showed that each algebraic lattice is a congruence lattice of some (not necessarily finite) algebra. The authors do not solve but contribute to the solution of the problem of finite representability of lattices. Their main results are two constructions -- any of them describes a procedure how, to a given finite algebra \(B\) (with known \(\text{Con} B\)), to find a finite overalgebra \(A\) possessing unary operations only, and then properties of \(\text{Con} A\) are studied. The procedure yields the new finitely representable lattice \(\text{Con} A\), hence new classes of finitely representable lattices are described.
