A homotopy boundary of a finite simply connected CW complex \(X\) is the boundary of a compact manifold of the homotopy type of \(X\), i.e., the boundary of a thickening of \(X\). The authors study the rational homotopy type of the homotopy boundaries of \(X\) using Quillen models. They give an explicit Quillen model for a particularly interesting homotopy boundary, called `Etrusque'. The paper is motivated by the relations between thickenings and homotopy embeddings.
