On zeros of characteristic \(p\) zeta function (Q2488817)

The author builds upon a result of \textit{D. S. Thakur} [Compos. Math. 99, No. 3, 231--247 (1995; Zbl 0841.11030)] on zeros of characteristic \(p\) Goss zeta functions to show that certain characteristic \(p=2\) function fields have \(\zeta(-es)\) vanishing to order at least two, where \(e\) is the exponent of the appropriate ideal class group and \(s\) a positive integer, under the conditions involving degrees and orders of divisors and the number of binary digits of \(e s\). The paper is well-written. A long introduction and several examples, as well as applications, clearly motivate the work.
