The author considers global existence (in time) for the Cauchy problem of the highly nonlinear wave equations of the form \(u_{tt}-\Delta u=F(u,Du,D_ xDu)\) in 5 dimensional Minkowski spacetime. When the quadratic terms of the nonlinear function F always have multiplicational factors \((Du,D_ xDu)\) in a neighbourhood of the origin, then a unique global solution exists under the suitable assumption of smoothness and smallness on initial data. The proof is based on some global Sobolev inequalities in Minkowski space obtained by \textit{S. Klainerman} [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 40, 111-117 (1987; Zbl 0686.46019)] and some nonlinear estimates related to the nonlinearity given above.
