Let \(I\) be an ideal of subsets of a set \(P\), \(X\) be a topological space. A function \(f: P \to X\) is said to be \(I\)-convergent to an \(x \in X\) if \(P \setminus f^{-1}(U) \in I\) for every neighborhood \(U\) of \(x\). Evidently, \(I\)-convergence coincides with filter convergence generated by the filter \(F(I)\) of complements to elements of \(I\). Filter convergence is a standard concept familiar to everybody who deals with General Topology, and in fact is a very useful tool. Ideal convergence was introduced less than 10 years ago. To tell the truth the reviewer does not understand the reason to introduce this new language which is completely equivalent to the classical one. The paper under review consists of introduction and four sections. In the first 3 sections the authors (using the language of ideal convergence) re-prove some well-known facts about filter convergence, cluster points and comparison of filters. In the last section a concept of \(I^*\)-convergence of nets is introduced and a complete characterization of those ideals, for which \(I^*\)-convergence coincides with \(I\)-convergence for functions with values in Hausdorff spaces satisfying the first countability axiom is given.
