The definition of cardinal power, formulated for partially ordered sets by \textit{G. Birkhoff} [Duke Math. J. 9, 284--302 (1942; Zbl 0060.12609)], can be restated \textit{mutatis mutandis} for general monorelational systems of any fixed arity, which has been elaborated by \textit{J. Slapal} [Publ. Math. 38, No. 1--2, 39--48 (1991; Zbl 0733.08001)]. The present authors propose a slightly modified generalization of Birkhoff's definition. The relationship between the two variants is examined. Since an \(n\)-ary (partial) operation may be regarded as an \((n+1)\)-ary relation, monooperational (partial) algebras are also concerned; sufficient conditions are presented for powers of (partial) algebras to yield (partial) algebras. Unfortunately, there are only few illustrations and no hints to serious applications.
