Let \(X\) be a Banach space and \(\mathcal{L}(X)\) the space of all bounded linear operators on \(X\). This paper investigates the differences between the theories of two \(\mathcal{L}(X)\)-valued functions: the cosine familes and the semigroups of linear operators on \(X\). Results concerning strong measurability, strong continuity, convergence are presented.
