The authors give a closed formula of the \(m\)th Frobenius-Schur indicator (\(m\geq 2\)) for irreducible representations of finite-dimensional complex semisimple Lie algebras. The formula, obtained by an analytic proof, is expressed in terms of weight space dimensions and proves that indicators take integer values. For the classical simple Lie algebras and large enough \(m\), it is shown that indicators agree with the dimension of the zero weight space of the corresponding representation. The paper organizes as follows: in section 2, the \(m\)th Frobenius-Schur indicator of the representation categories of finite dimensional complex semisimple algebras is defined. Some properties of the second indicator are recalled in section 3 in order to motivate the study of the higher indicators. The last section 4 is devoted to established the main formula and its consequences. The paper ends with an explicit computation of Frobenius-Schur indicators for the representation category of \({\mathfrak{sl}}(3)\), the complex special linear algebra over a \(3\)-dimensional vector space.
