The authors consider the singular boundary value problem \[ \begin{aligned} &(1/p)(py')' + f(t,y) = 0,\quad 0 < t < 1,\\ &\lim_{t\to 0^+} p(t)y'(t) = 0,\\ &\lim_{t\to 1^-} p(t)y'(t) + g(y(1)) = 0, \end{aligned} \] where \(p\) is positive on (0,1), \(g : (a,b) \to \mathbb R\) has singularities at \(a\) and \(b\), \(f\), \(g\) and \(p\) are continuous on their domains. Sufficient conditions for the existence of sign-changing solutions and multiple solutions are obtained. The arguments are based on the dual variational principle and the critical point theory.
