The object of the paper is the well-known Gauss-Green formula \(\int_\gamma\omega= \iint_D d\omega\) with many applications in different domains of applied mathematics; \(\gamma\) is the \(C^1\)-boundary of the planar, Jordan domain \(D\), \(\omega\) is a \(1\)-form over \(\gamma\), and \(d\omega\) a \(2\)-form over \(D\). This formula is not applicable without any precautions respecting \(\gamma\), \(D\) and \(\omega\). The first author showed [Rev. Mat. Iberoam. 14, No.~2, 215--310 (1998; Zbl 0923.34056)], that it is possible to extend the notion of the integral of any smooth enough \(1\)-form \(\omega\) to geometric rough paths and hence deduced that the Itô functional associated to \(\omega\), namely \(I_\omega:\gamma\to \int_\gamma\omega\) is continuous over the space of paths with finite \(p\)-variation. The above quoted paper is followed by other ones, quoted in the references, which studied the problems; their knowledge is very useful for a good understanding of the present one. The attention of the authors is focused on a paper written by \textit{J. Harrison} and \textit{A. Norton} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 40, No.~2, 567--594 (1991; Zbl 0729.28005)] which, in their opinion, is ``the main recent advance in the planar case''. They consider that the present paper is ``an alternative approach, which is also complementary, to that by Harrison and Norton on how to do calculus and geometric analysis on fractals''. The main results of the paper are contained in two theorems asserting that for \(1/3<\alpha\leq 1\), the boundary of an \(\alpha\)-Hölder planar domain \(\overline D\) is a \(p\)-geometric rough path for all \(p> 1/\alpha\) (Theorem 1) and, as a consequence of this theorem, there are established the conditions in which the Gauss-Green formula can be extended to domains of the form introduced in the first theorem. To prove these two theorems, the authors introduce 12 definitions, prove four propositions and three lemmas and make two remarks. The paper presents a great importance through its mathematical problems and applications of the obtained results.
