    A real algebraic variety is called an \(M\)-variety if its total Betti number with \({\mathbb Z}/2\) coefficients equals the total Betti number of its complexification (the latter number always is greater or equal to the former one by the Smith-Thom inequality). A real structure on a toric variety is called standard if it is standard on the big torus. It is well-known that a real standard non-singular toric variety is an \(M\)-variety. The authors extend this result to real standard singular toric varieties of dimension \(\leq 3\) or having only isolated singularities.
