Let \(G\) be a Lie group, \(g\) be its Lie algebra, \(T^\ast(G)\) be its cotangent bundle, which has the natural structure of a Lie group, and \(\mathcal D := g + g^\ast\) is the Lie algebra of \(T^\ast(G)\). In this paper the structure of the Lie algebra of derivations \(Der (\mathcal D)\) is investigated. It is proved that any derivation of \(\mathcal D\) (which is a 1-cocycle for the adjoint representation of \(\mathcal D\)) has the following form: \(\phi (x,f) = (\alpha (x) + \psi(f), \beta(x) + \xi(f))\) for any \((x,f) \in \mathcal D\); where \(\alpha: g \to g\) is a derivation of the Lie algebra \(g\), \(\beta: g \to g^\ast \) is a 1-cocycle of \(g\) with values in \(g^\ast\) for the co-adjoint action of \(g\) on \(g^\ast\), \(\xi: g^\ast \to g^\ast\) and \(\psi: g\ast \to g\) are linear maps satisfying some special conditions. It appears that \(\mathop{Der} (\mathcal D)\) has a structure of a Lie superalgebra. Also the structure of \(\Aut (\mathcal D)\) is described and a description of \(H^1(\mathcal D, \mathcal D)\) is given. Then the cases of semisimple and compact Lie groups, where \(G\) has a bi-invariant Riemannian or pseudo-Riemannian metric, are investigated as particular cases. As an application some concrete examples of the calculation of \(\mathop{Der}(\mathcal D)\) for low dimensional Lie algebras \(g\) are given.
