The classical Levin-Pfluger theory of entire functions of completely regular growth was extended by Azarin to entire functions with periodic limit sets. It is important in that theory to consider subharmonic functions satisfying a functional equation \(v(Tz)=T^{\rho}v(z)\) with some constants \(T>1\) and \(\rho >0\). If \(v\) is defined in a suitable complex domain \(G\), then the function \(q(z)=v(e^z)e^{-\rho x},z=x+\imath y,\) is defined and upper-semicontinuous in a domain \(D\) on a torus \(\pi^2_P\) defined by identifying the opposite sides of the rectangle \((0,P)\times (-\pi , \pi ), P=\log T\). Moreover, \(q\) is a subfunction of an operator \(L_{\rho}:= \Delta +2\rho \frac{\partial}{\partial x}+\rho ^2\), i.e. it satisfies the inequality \(L_{\rho}q\geq 0\) in the sense of distributions. The present authors consider under some restrictions on \(G\), the potential theory for \(L_{\rho}\), i.e. they develop its fundamental solution, Green's function, sweeping, prove the Riesz decomposition theorem. It should be remarked that in many instances \(L_{\rho}\)-subfunctions are closer to \(\rho\)-trigonometric functions than to subharmonic functions. This study is intrinsically connected with the spectral properties of the operator \(L_{\rho}\) for an arbitrary \(\rho\) and properties of the boundary value problem \(L_{\rho}q=0\) in \(D\), \(q=0\) quasi-everywhere on \(\partial D\). The authors study the spectrum of this problem if \(\partial D\) has positive capacity. They show that there exists the minimum positive point of the spectrum, \(\rho (D)\). This quantity reflects many important properties of the original domain \(G\). Thus, by making use of this parameter, the authors describe a broad class of domains (\(T\)-homogeneous domains) whose harmonic Martin boundary is one-dimensional and found this boundary. As another example, we just mention an application of \(\rho (D)\) to study of \(L_{\rho}\)-subminorants of a given real function in a plane.
